Colorado Legalization and The Netherlands Drug Policy Amanda McKeel Monmouth University Abstract The purpose of this paper is to discuss the legalization of marijuana in Colorado as well as the Netherlands drug policy. It has been found that even though Colorado has legalized marijuana, there are provisions that must be followed. The Netherlands however have not legalized marijuana, but they do feel that seeing possession of marijuana is not a crime, so therefore marijuana is tolerated. Coloradoââ¬â¢s society does not agree with this legalization due to adolescent use, however the Colorado Amendment 64 protects this. The Netherlands is seen as too liberal, but they are only doing what is in the best interest of the users.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The main question is, with marijuana being legalized in Colorado and tolerated in the Netherlands, what is the affect of such legalization? The legalization of marijuana, for some, is not something to take lightly, but I do not think it is the worst drug. In my own opinion heroin and cocaine are two drugs that should not be legal because of the harmful effects they cause. Marijuana, in my own opinion is the lesser of the two evils, so if states and countries want to legalize it, they can do what they please. Now I know some people would disagree with me on this, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I would rather see marijuana legalized then heroin or cocaine. Colorado Coloradoââ¬â¢s legalization of marijuana began in 2000 with the Colorado Amendment 20. According to Davis, Mendelson, berkes, Suleta, Corsi Booth (2015) the Colorado Amendment 20 legalized cannabis for medical use only. Even though this was true however, not just anybody was allowed to obtain marijuana. Any person wishing to obtain cannabis had to have a condition that was debilitating. ââ¬Å"Debilitating conditions approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and included in Amendment 20 are cancer, glaucoma, HIV or AIDS, cachexia, severe pain, severe nausea, seizures, muscle spasms, and any other condition approved by CDPHEâ⬠(Davis et.al, 2015, p.1). This Amendment lasted for nine years and in 2009, anyone was allowed to obtain medical cannabis. There was no

The military is known for its structure, order and discipline of the Servicemen and Servicewoman, but mostly for its great leadership throughout the ranks. The military is structured by the ranking system. In the Navy, the Service member s level of authority and responsibilities is based on his or her rate. There are the entry level rates Seaman Recruit, Seaman Apprentice and Seaman; Petty Officer Third Class, Petty Officer Second Class and Petty Officer First Class. Lastly, there are the senior level rates Chief Petty Officer, Senior Chief Petty Officer and Master Chief Petty Officer. Sailors in the rates Seaman Recruit (SR), Seaman Apprentice (SA) and Seaman (SN) are in the pay grades Enlisted-1 through Enlisted-3 (E-1 through E-3). Sailors in these rates, or paygrades, are not typically placed in leadership roles. A few expectations of Sailors in these rates are for them to employ basic knowledge and skills on a daily basis and to progress into productive leaders in todayââ¬â¢s Navy. They are also expected to obey all orders of personnel appointed over them. However, one of the greatest expectations of Sailors in these ranks, is for them to develop and exhibit decent followership skills. Due to the competiveness and the number of vacant spots, the requirement for a Sailor to advance to the rates of Petty Officer Third Class (PO3), Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) and Petty Officer First Class (PO1) or pay grade Enlisted-4 through Enlisted-6 (E-4 through E-6), they

Setting The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is set in the town of St. Petersburg, Missouri, some time around the middle of the nineteenth century Biography of the Author Born on November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri, Samuel L. Clemens wrote under the pen name Mark Twain and went on to pen several novels, including two major classics of American literature, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He was also a riverboat pilot, journalist, lecturer, entrepreneur and inventor. Twain died in Redding, Connecticut on April 21, 1910, having survived his children Langdon, Susan and Jean as well as his wife, Olivia. In his lifetime, he became a distinguished member of the literati, and was honored by Yale, the University of Missouri, and Oxford with literary degrees. Conflict Man vs. man Tom and Huck perceive their biggest struggle to be between themselves and Injun Joe, whose gold they want and whom they believe is out to kill them. Conflict also exists between Tom and his imaginative world and the expectations and rules of adult society. Moral of the Story Moral and Social Maturity When the novel opens, Tom is engaged in and often the organizer of childhood pranks and make-believe games. As the novel progresses, these initially consequence-free childish games take on more and more gravity. Tom leads himself, Joe Harper, Huck, and, in the cave, Becky Thatcher into increasingly dangerous situations. He also finds himself in tight spots in which he must put his concern for others above his concern for himself, such as when he takes Beckyââ¬â¢s punishment and when he testifies at Injun Joeââ¬â¢s trial. As Tom begins to take initiative to help others instead of himself, he shows his increasing maturity, competence, and moral integrity. Tomââ¬â¢s adventures to Jacksonââ¬â¢s Island and McDougalââ¬â¢s Cave take him away from society. These symbolic removals help to prepare him to return to the village with a new, more adult outlook on his relationship to the community. Though early on Tom looks up to Huck as much older and wiser, by the end of the novel, Tomââ¬â¢s maturity has surpassed Huckââ¬â¢s. Tomââ¬â¢s personal growth is evident in his insistence, in the face of Huckââ¬â¢s desire to flee all social constraints, that Huck stay with the Widow Douglas and become civilized. Point of View Third Person (Omniscient) the narrator does not participate in the action of the story as one of the characters, but lets us know exactly how the characters feel. As a narrator, Twain cannot only see what his characters are seeing and thinking, but he is able to channel their personalities.

Last September, four young musicians began a journey, calling themselves Rip N Time, cleverly named after lead singer Riley Ripintyme. This band of high schoolers from LA combined their talents to create the album ââ¬Å"Playing Her Guitar Suite. â⬠Whats interesting about this album is that it is primarily guitar music. ââ¬Å"Playing Her Guitar Suiteâ⬠is a three-song EP that takes the listener on a jingle-jangle journey back to the classic guitar sounds of 50s rock, 80s metal, and the Blues era.The first track, ââ¬Å"Playing Her Guitar,â⬠is a sensitive vocal. Shimmery guitar and pretty choral voices combine to create a passionate sound. Then the guitars break into chunky rhythmic riffing that gives it a chill vibe before adding in some pretty sounds. The result is a unique interweaving of different types of guitar playing.ââ¬Å"Twisting Road,â⬠an eight-minute instrumental track, overlaps beautiful chords with metallic guitars and a cool background bass. We will write a custom essay sample on Playing Her Guitar Suite or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This track is full of intricate guitar solos that display lots of talent. It morphs seamlessly between rough metallic riffing and easy rock sounds, similar to what one would hear at a classic rock concert.Rip N Times final track, ââ¬Å"Suite Dream,â⬠is another guitar-filled instrumental. It begins with dream-like cascading harmonies accompanied by the soft plucking of the bass. As it progresses, several guitars cry out in a symphonic mix, weaving their voices together. Soft vocals at the end leave listeners feeling like theyve been in a sweet dream. In addition to the band members, other students work behind the scenes to create visual representations of the music. Inside the CD is a 24-page graphic novella that tells the inspiring story of seven guitar legends who shaped the bands music-making goals. Rip N Time uses the power of tuning, sensitivity, practice, perseverance, attitude, tone, and heart to achieve their ultimate goal: to defeat the Tarborgs, a rival band, at the Battle of the Bands at a local cafe. This novella is beautifully written, and the illustrations are as unique as their songs.

Polis - Ancient Greek City-States The polis (plural, poleis)- also known as a city-state- was the ancient Greek city-state. The word politics comes from this Greek word. In the ancient world, the polis was a nucleus, the central urban area that could also have controlled the surrounding countryside. (The word polis could also refer to the citys body of citizens.)à This surrounding countryside (chora or ge) could also be considered part of the polis. Hansen and Nielsen say there were around 1500 archaic and classical Greek poleis. The region formed by aà cluster of poleis, bound geographically and ethnically, was an ethnos (pl. ethne).à Pseudo-Aristotle defines the Greek polis as an assemblage of houses, lands, and property sufficient to enable the inhabitants to lead a civilized life [Pounds]. It was often a lowland, agricultural central area surrounded by protective hills. It may have started as numerous separate villages that banded together when its mass became large enough to be almost self-sustaining. The Largest Greek Polis The polis of Athens, the largest of the Greek poleis, was the birthplace of democracy. Aristotle saw the household oikos as the basic social unit of the polis, according to J. Roy. Athens was the urban center of Attica; Thebes of Boeotia; Sparta of the southwestern Peloponnese, etc. At least 343 poleis belonged, at some point, to the Delian League, according to Pounds. Hansen and Nielsen provide a list with member poleis from the regions of Lakonia, the Saronic Gulf (to the west of Corinth), Euboia, the Aegean, Macedonia, Mygdonia, Bisaltia, Chalkidike, Thrace, Pontus, the Pronpontos, Lesbos, Aiolis, Ionia, Karia, Lykia, Rhodes, Pamphyli, Kilikia, and poleis from unlocated regions. The End of the Greek Polis It is common to consider the Greek polis ended at the Battle of Chaironeia, in 338 B.C, but An Inventory of Archaic and Classical Poleis argues that this is based on the assumption that the polis required autonomy and that was not the case. Citizens continued to run their citys business even into the Roman period. How useful is the Letter of Jude for the Church Today - Essay Example The book comes in handy today as there are many false teachers who look down upon the word of God with disdain. Jude was driven by purpose to protect the status of the faith and church of God. In his letter, he intended to bring out the aims of false teachers whose infiltration in the church of god threatened to derail the faith of Christians. Through this exposure, he intended to pass a message to Christians that they should find courage and stand firm in relation to their faith. According to him, the Christians ought to get motivated and seek their way to the truth. He dwells on this during the first part of the epistle. In verse 4, Jude states that ââ¬Å"for certain persons have crept unnoticedâ⬠. He meant that there were false teachers of the word of god and they were peddling their wares in the church and elsewhere among Christians without being noticed or questioned. He described ion the book how these false teachers perpetrated terrible acts under concealment. For the Christians to be aware, Jude recommended that they had to remember the teaching of the apostles of Christ, help each other to build their faith in the word of God, employ the use of Holy Spirit to guide them in prayer, wait upon the mercy of Jesus by living their lives in such a way that they are prepared for this second coming and stay within the unending love of God. Staying in the love of God demands that believers trust in God and do whatever he wants us to do as highlighted in the teachings of the epistles. Commitment and following the guidelines he put forward, Christians can be able to stand up against those false tea chers who were working against the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ. In modern times, there are many false teachers. Jude say that these teachers are a threat because they teach that being saved by the grace of god gives freedom to do what one wants which includes living immorally. This is an act of denying Christ according to Jude. This is
